How to Get to Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan from Sidemen

During your stay in Sidemen or anywhere in Bali, taking a trip to the Nusa Islands is a must-do excursion! The three islands, Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan, are special places in Indonesia that’ll give you all the beauty of Bali with half the crowds. The good news is that getting there from Villa Uma Dewi Sri in Sidemen is a walk in the park! So, let’s check out how to get to each island (and back) and what you can expect!

Table of Contents

Sidemen to Nusa Penida

Kusamba Port (Easiest Route)

From your wonderful villa in Sidemen, take the 30 to 45-minute drive to Kusamba Port. Let us know if you need help with transportation, and we can arrange your ride and book your fast boat tickets! Once you make it to the port, catch one of the boats that will leave almost every hour until around 4pm, depending on the tide. It’d be a good idea to get to the port by noon to make sure you don’t have any issues. The boat ride takes between 30 and 45 minutes.

Padang Bai Port (Car Ferry)

If you want to take your scooter from Sidemen to Nusa Penida, you’ll have to get the larger and slower ferry from Padang Bai. It runs one to two times a day and takes about two hours to get to Nusa Penida. Just make sure your rental scooter is allowed to be used on islands other than Bali!

Sanur Harbour (Longer Route)

You could also take the fast boat from Sanur to Nusa Penida, but the crossing will be a bit longer. However, if you’re already in the area and don’t want to drive up to Kusamba, then it’s a great option!

From Nusa Penida to Sidemen

When you’re ready to head to Sidemen, head over to Banjar Nyuh (Toya Pakeh), which is likely the port you would have arrived at. Hop on one of the fast boats to Kusamba (there will also be boats into Sanur and Padang Bai), and you’ll be back in Bali within 30 to 45 minutes! When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a frenzy of private drivers who are offering “the best price,” but be careful with those “offers”. The best way to get from Nusa Penida to Sidemen is to contact us for help (if you stay with us) or to book transportation with Sidemen Tour & Trekking.

Sidemen to Nusa Lembongan

Kusamba Port (Easiest Route)

Just like the journey to Nusa Penida, the easiest option is to head to Kusamba Port from Villa Uma Dewi Sri. We highly recommend to book your ferry tickets and transport with Sidemen Tour & Trekking! The fast boat to Lembongan runs every hour until around 4pm, but we recommend catching one at noon to the latest to ensure you don’t have any problems. The boat ride takes between 30 and 45 minutes.

Sanur Harbour (Longer Route)

You could also take the fast boat from Sanur to Nusa Lembongan, but the crossing will be a bit longer. However, if you’re already in the area and don’t want to drive up to Kusamba, then it’s a great option!

Nusa Lembongan to Nusa Ceningan

There are no ferries or boats that’ll take you from Bali to Nusa Ceningan. To get to the island, you’ll first need to go to Nusa Lembongan and walk across the famous yellow bridge. Keep in mind that you can only walk or take a motorbike–cars won’t fit!

Getting Back to Sidemen from Nusa Lembongan

When you’re ready to head back to Sidemen, take the fast boat from Jungut Batu to Kusamba (there will also be boats into Sanur and Padang Bai). Once at the port, you’ll be greeted by a storm of drivers who are offering “the best price,” but you most likely will have to bargain a lot. If you are staying at Villa Uma Dewi Sri, the best way to get back to Sidemen is to contact us for help or to book transportation with Sidemen Tour & Trekking.
